Depression can really have an impact on the mental and emotional state of a person. I have seen severe persons with it end up at the rehab for months trying to get their mind back together. It can be challenging going through depression at times. That’s why it’s important to know the emotional signs of depression. It will help you to become more aware of the illness and what the symptoms are. Below are 7 mental and emotional signs of depression.

 

Bored all the time

When you’re depressed, typically you are going to feel bored most of the time. Thinking about having fun is probably going to be the last thing on your mind. There were moments when I was just wasn’t excited about anything. Even when I am playing with my kids, looking back now those were really scary times.

 

Your mood is low

When your mood is low for over two weeks, more than likely you have depression. The reason why I am even saying this is because I have seen this happen time and time again. The worst thing is that, persons usually overlook this sign because when their mood is low over a certain period of time. They would blame it on their work, family etc. without even thinking about the fact that they might have depression.

 

Fatigue

Having depression can help you to feel fatigued all the time. This is another symptom that persons overlook as well. They may feel like they may not be getting enough rest so that may be the cause of their weariness. I have been there before and I have written about it in a prior post as well. It wasn’t a good feeling and it can hurt your productivity.

 

Feeling sad most of the time

The daily feeling of sadness for no reason at all might be a sign of depression. Even if your life is moving in the right direction with a wonderful family, great job, great house, health etc. and you feel tired. You might want to get yourself checked to see what’s really wrong with you. I think most persons with depression go through this as well. They just feel empty like something is missing in order for them to feel truly happy.

 

Lack of interest

When you feel like you don’t want to do anything anymore for example the things that usually used to interest you from first. That can be a sign that you may be depressed. This sign is similar to prior ones which were stated above. I have been through this and so did a lot of persons. It took me a while to even know what the real cause of it was.

 

Problem thinking clearly

If you’re depressed more than likely it’s going to affect the way you think. It’s going to make it hard for you to concentrate and focus. This was a real problem for me when it comes on to my job and I almost got fired for it because I was performing pretty poorly.

Hopefully all the signs will help you to become aware when you might be suffering from depression. Depression isa terrible illness that is affecting a lot of persons lives worldwide. What bothers me is that a lot of persons are not even aware that they might have depression. If you are troubling with depression it’s always great to talk to a doctor and research about it. Because they are so many useful information out there that you could use to your advantage.
